Issa Samb

Iniva presents Issa Samb: From the ethics of Acting to the Empire Without Signs, an exhibition curated by Koyo Kouoh, (Raw Material Company, Dakar) at Rivington Place.

Issa Samb is a founding member of a revolutionary and subversive African artist collective Laboratoire Agit’Art which started in the 1970s. Samb’s work continues an approach of provocation, collective action and improvisation rooted in modes of contemporary art and theatre, the role of the artist in the society, and the interactivity of traditional African performance. The exhibition includes installation, video work from Samb's collaboration with French artist Jean Michel Bruyère, drawings and archival materials.
